Feeling Spiteful? Tarot for Self-healing

275 words / read time 1-2 minutes

Ever been on the receiving end of verbal abuse? It sucks. I recently went through an incident that really shook me up. I did some self-care afterwards including meditating on protection and creating strategies to quickly disengage should I have to deal with this person again.

All well and good. Yet somehow it wasn’t enough.

I noticed some small part of me really wishing to harm this person. Nothing huge. Something subtle would do quite nicely. Then I could enjoy a laugh at her expense. Not the most noble sentiment, I know. But there it was. I was having a full-blown Five of Swords moment. If you look at the card, you’ll see the central figure appears to be gloating at the dejection of the others. And, yep, just for a moment I wanted to be that guy.

Reflecting on Five of Swords helped me make a course correction on my thinking. I’m here to help people and teach. That doesn’t mean being a doormat but it also means moving-on from Five of Swords and not getting stuck there.

Card #5 of the Major Arcana is the Hierophant. At the deepest levels he’s a teacher, healer, and guide. The alchemical transmutation of Five of Swords energy into Hierophant energy left me feeling lighter, inspired, and ready to share this story with you instead of feeling spiteful.

Tarot is an amazing tool for alchemical transmutation and self-healing. It helps me nearly every day to deal with the pains and disappointments as well as charting my course into the future I want to create. Want to know more about Tarot? Check out Misteri dei Tarocchi Complete Tarot Course.
